We missed our chances against Mumbai: Fleming
Chennai: Disappointed with the six-wicket loss to Mumbai Indian, Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming said his team paid the price for not grabbing its chances in the IPl cricket match here. “...Catches going down put us off the phase. We were hanging in and creating chances but in the end lost our way,” Fleming said in the post-match press conference. Fleming said in a low-scoring match, it was perhaps a wrong move to give the penultimate over to Pawan Negi instead of an experienced Ravindra Jadeja. “I am sure the skipper will be reflecting on that. We learnt some things today. No doubt we had a disappointing time because we fell back hard and we thought we are going to come pretty close to winning the game,” he said.
Wiese praises Kohli’s leadership skills
Mumbai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder David Wiese on Saturday heaped praise on skipper Virat Kohli for his leadership qualities, describing him as a forward thinking captain who trusts his guts and goes by his instincts. “I think Virat has been an outstanding captain. His tactics this season have been really good.” said Wiese “Sometimes people say he is too passionate and too aggressive in the game. But I think in T20 cricket you need to take wickets all the time. Eventually taking wickets wins you the game. I really think he is a forward thinking captain. I have a good understanding with him. He complements his bowlers very well what we want and we replicate and give him what he wants,” Wiese said.
Gambhir says Narine is more than mystery spinner
kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir believes West Indian spinner Sunil Narine’s mystery may get solved but he will remain a quality bowler after the latter put up a stupendous bowling effort against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Saturday. Narine returned figures of 4/19 for his side, getting rid of both openers Manan Vohra and Murali Vijay and then sending Wriddhiman Saha and Glenn Maxwell back to the dug-out at the Eden Gardens. “I have always said he is the leader of the attack. People can say whatever they want to, saying mystery solved and brain freeze,” Gambhir said at the post match media conference. “But he is not only a mystery bowler he is a quality bowler. The mystery will eventually get solved but he will remain a quality bowler under any circumstances,” he added. “The way he has made a comeback especially in today’s game shows his mental toughness,” he said.
