Kapur finishes inside top-30
Versailles (France): Shiv Kapur rounded off a modest week with a one-under 70 to finish inside top-30 at the Alstom Open de France on Sunday. Kapur, the lone Indian to make the cut this week, ended the tournament at four-over 288. Jeev Milkha Singh and Gaganjeet Bhullar had earlier missed the cut. Kapur opened with a bogey on first but birdies on fifth, seventh, 10th and 11th saw him climb to three-under, but he once again had problems on the back nine at the le Golf National as he dropped three bogeys between 13th and 16th. A closing birdie on 18th did give him a positive feel unlike the second and third days when he bogeyed the 18th. At the top, American Kevin Stadler, starting the day four shots clear of his nearest rival, was comfortably coasting to a wire-to-wire win as he was four shots clear of Victor Riu, 512th ranked player in the world.

Gul suffers knee injury again
Karachi: Injuries continued to hound seasoned Pakistan pacer Umar Gul as he is likely to have again aggravated his knee on which he had keyhole surgery last year in a bid to prolong his international career. Gul went off the fielding after bowling just two overs in the MCC versus Rest of the World match at lords on Saturday. "He went off after bowling two overs and fielded only for a while. We have heard that he might have aggravated the same right knee on which he had surgery last year," a source close to the selectors said. Gul, who is Pakistan's most experienced pace bowler in the present team, has faced problems with his knee since last year and even after making a comeback last October in the series against Sri lanka in the UAE there are doubts over his ability to bowl long spells without breaking down.
IOC set to keep 3 bids for 2022 Games
lausanne: Olympic leaders meet on Monday to decide which cities make the cut in the race for the 2022 Winter Games. It should be an easy choice. After a series of voter rejections and city withdrawals, only three contenders are left standing — and the future of one remains uncertain. The International Olympic Committee executive board is expected to keep all three remaining candidates: Almaty, Kazakhstan; Beijing; and Oslo. Also on the agenda for the three-day meeting in lausanne, Switzerland, is an update on Rio de Janeiro's delayed preparations for the 2016 Olympics, possible venue changes for the 2020 Tokyo Games and a review of IOC President Thomas Bach's plans for the future of the Olympic movement.
