no CSK home matchesIJ
New Delhi: The home matches of Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPl could be shifted out of the Chepauk stadium as the Chennai Municipal Corporation is yet to give ‘NOC’ to three stands which they claim were illegally constructed. CSK had a home match against RCB scheduled on May 18, followed by another match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 22. Apart from that Chepauk would have hosted Qualifier 1 on May 27 and the Eliminator on May 28. “We have received an official communication from the franchise and a meeting will be held in Mumbai tomorrow to sort out the venue due to Chepauk’s inability to host the matches,” a top IPl official told PTI.
modi wants autonomous body
New Delhi: Former IPl commissioner lalit Modi has suggested the setting up of an autonomous body, independent of the BCCI, to run the cash-rich T20 league. “I would remove the IPl from under the BCCI and put it in the hands of a separate company,” Modi said. “They can have the ownership, let them earn the revenue but allow autonomy to the independent company. Bring in professionals that have nothing else but to run the IPl,” Modi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
ICC confirms review of acu
Dubai: The ICC on Friday confirmed the review of its under-fire anti-corruption unit even as it dismissed reports raising questions on the watchdog’s effectiveness in dealing with the menace of spot and match-fixing. In the wake of reports claiming Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) will now be controlled by the sport’s big three — India, England and Australia, the ICC confirmed the development without undermining the role that ACSU has performed since its inception in 2000. “The International Cricket Council on Friday confirmed that a review of the sport’s collective approach in protecting against the threat of corruption, at both an international and domestic level, is to take place,” said the ICC in a statement.
