Kitchens at Kotla de-sealed
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has ordered de-sealing of all the kitchens and eating joints inside the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium, a day after they were sealed following a fire-related incident during an IPl-7 match on Saturday. In its order, a bench comprising Justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Siddharth Mridul, however, said there should be no kitchen running. “The premises shall be de-sealed till further orders so that DDCA can clean the entire premises and ensure that there is no kitchen running,” the HC order stated. “The DDCA shall also take immediate steps to see that no untoward incident of fire or any such similar incident takes place and proper storage of materials is maintained. The DDCA shall also indicate the outcome of the inspection of the Fire Department which was to take place today.”
Sl enjoy late flurry vs Ireland
Dublin: Sri lanka scored 39 runs from the last three overs to leave Ireland a victory target of 220 in the first one-day international at Clontarf, Dublin on Tuesday. Nuwan Kulasekara top scored, from No 8, with an undefeated 42 from 34 balls, including three fours and the only two sixes of the innings. He received good support from Ashan Priyanjana who made 31 and Ajantha Mendis who cracked three boundaries in his 18 not out from just nine balls. With Kulasekara, he put on 43 in the last 22 balls to help Sri lanka to a total of 219 for eight from their full 50 overs. The Sri lankans, the reigning World Twenty20 champions, have arrived in Dublin without five of their star players ahead of upcoming limited overs and Test series in England. And for much of the innings Ireland’s bowlers capitalised on the absence of star batsmen such as Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, the latter currently playing for English county side Durham.
Harris, Pattinson in doubt
Sydney: Australian pace spearhead Ryan Harris is unlikely to make the trip to the United Arab Emirates in October for the Test series against Pakistan, bowling coach Craig McDermott said on Tuesday. The 34-year-old quick underwent surgery on his knee in March after battling through the pain barrier to see his country to a dramatic series victory over South Africa in Cape Town. “He’s definitely touch and go for Dubai, we’ve just got to see how his knee goes over the next few months,” he told reporters. “I don’t think there’s any point rushing Ryano either, we’ve got a lot of cricket with India, World Cup, West Indies and the Ashes, we’ve got to make sure he’s 100 percent when he comes back.” There is also serious doubt over fellow fast bowler James Pattinson after he suffered a recurrence of the back problems that have plagued his career. “I want to make sure we take our time and get it right. He’s obviously having some sort of trouble with his skeletal makeup that’s not coping at his age,” said McDermott. “Patto does bowl fast ... So we’ve got to make sure we get him right and take our time to bring him back nice and slowly.”
