Nazir to sue Moin on ICl dues

Karachi: Former Pakistan seamer Shahid Nazir has decided to file a petition against former captain and current chief selector of the national team Moin Khan pertaining to outstanding payments of players who participated in the now-defunct Indian Cricket league (ICl). Nazir confirmed to PTI that he was going to file a petition in the lahore High Court this week against Moin for recovery of long outstanding dues payable to many Pakistani players who played for lahore Badshahs in 2008 edition of ICl. "The case is being filed against Moin because he signed on players for the ICl through his company and charged us a 15 percent commission from each player from the agreed contract amount," Nazir claimed. "He is responsible for ensuring we get our long outstanding dues since he was the ICl agent/representative in Pakistan."

New Pak selectors meet today

Karachi: The newly formed national selection committee headed by the former captain Moin Khan will meet here on Tuesday to start preparations for Pakistan's forthcoming international assignments, which will culminate with the World Cup in 2015. "Our first task is to identify and shortlist around 30 to 35 players who will form the nucleus for our upcoming assignments including the 2015 World Cup," Moin said. The former wicketkeeper-batsman said that initially the shortlisted players will have to attend a month-long training/conditioning camp in lahore from May 6. Senior players like Saeed Ajmal and Junaid Khan, however, will miss the camp as they have been given permission to play cricket in England.

Jurgensen resigns

Dhaka: Bangaldesh cricket team's Australian coach Shane Jurgensen today tendered his resignation in the wake of the national team's disastroust performance in the ICC World T20 where they even lost to minnows Hong Kong. Jurgensen took up the Bangladesh job permanently in February 2013 after being the interim coach for a series, against West Indies, in 2012. The former Queensland star was given a two-year contract until the 2015 World Cup but Bangladesh's recent results had created uncertainty over his future. Bangladesh were outplayed by Sri lanka in the first Test in January this year, before bouncing back with a drawn game in Chittagong. They lost the T20 and ODI series, albeit through narrow defeats.

Adams Sl’s consultant

Colombo: Sri lanka Cricket (SlC) on Monday announced the appointment of Chris Adams as consultant for the national team's tour of Ireland and England. The 44-year old former England player and captain of Sussex coached Surrey, the county to which Sri lanka lost its former coach Graham Ford. The team leaves end of this week and the preparations received a jolt when the English coach Paul Farbrace abruptly left the Sri lankan head coach's job to become England's deputy coach under Peter Moores. Sri lanka became critical of both Farbrace and the England & Wales Cricket Board for letting Sri lanka down ahead of the twin tours. The SlC also announced the confirmation of the appointment of the former captain Marvan Atapattu as the Head Coach and the former Test spinner Ruwan Kalpage as his assistant.
