Macau, a stepping stone to No.1
New Delhi: Describing the title triumph at Macau Open as the "biggest win" of her career, India's top squash player Dipika Pallikal on Tuesday said it's a stepping stone in her quest to be the world number one. Pallikal won the biggest title of her career at Macau this Sunday -- the Women's Squash Association (WSA) Silver band event -- having beaten the formidable Grinham sisters -- former world number two Natalie and former world number one Rachel. "Yes for sure (the biggest win of my career). This is my first silver tournament win. So it does feel great. My aim is to get to world No.1 and this is just a route to No.1," Pallikal told PTI.

Poonia, the only Indian woman track and field athlete to have won an individual gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in 2010 here, on Tuesday resigned from the Indian Railways so as to join the Congress Party and prepare for the polls. "Poonia has submitted his resignation from the Railways. She has been associated with us for many years and we are proud to have her as our employee. She is a great sportsperson as well as a youth icon of the country, especially among the women. We wish her all the success in life," a top Railway source told PTI.
Satisfied with game: Gangjee
New Delhi: After spending a couple of years in the USA, Rahil Gangjee returned to the Asian tour this season and the Indian golfer said though the experience has given him an "edge" over others, he is still looking for that elusive big victory. "I think I have an edge over others here because of the experience which I got in web.Com. There you have to dig deep, you have to score 20-under consistently there. Scoring a five-under or four-under is like a par, so competition is tough," Gangjee told reporters on the eve of the BIlT Open championship starting at Jaypee Greens tomorrow. "I was a little rusty initially, when I changed from USA to Asian tour, here it is tougher golf courses. In web.Com, they set the golf courses same every week, it is wide fairways, short rough and soft greens. So it doesn't make a difference if you are hitting 4-Iron or 7-iron to the greens.
