Cl better than Big Bash: Katich

Jaipur: Australian batsman Simon Katich says the level of competition in the ClT20 is far better than what he has seen in the Big Bash back home. Katich's Perth Scorchers were knocked out of the ClT20 on Sunday after defeat against Rajasthan Royals, last night. "Hopefully we'll get a fair bit of this before the Big Bash. We've seen how big the standard is here form the Big Bash and it's a different ball game. We're gonna have to try harder in the next few days," Katich said.

‘Announce SA-India tour itinerary’

Johannesburg: The South African Cricketers Association has called on the BCCI and the CSA to urgently work out the itinerary for the upcoming tour by India, saying that the continuing delay is "worrying and frustrating" for the players. SACA CEO Tony Irish said the series is the highlight of the South African home schedule this summer and should be sorted out quickly. "This is the main tour of the summer and has a massive financial implication on cricket. We are about six weeks away from it and to have it all up in the air is really worrying and frustrating," Irish told ESPN Cricinfo. "Until yesterday, CSA did not know who they were dealing with at the BCCI because they had not had their election but now that that is sorted it, they need to do whatever it takes to get the discussion going," he added.

BCCi officials in dark over Sridhar

New Delhi: Questions have cropped up over the appointment of former Hyderabad captain M V Sridhar as the General Manager (Cricket Operations) of the BCCI at its Annual General Meeting in Chennai on Sunday. 47-year-old Sridhar, who has played 97 first-class matches for Hyderabad and South Zone, was a surprise inclusion in the BCCI set-up that raised several eyebrows. Sridhar is the Secretary of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. "We didn't know that his designation is that of GM (Cricket Operations). That he was on board was intimated by the president on the floor of the meeting yesterday," a senior BCCI office-bearer said. "The president (Srinivasan) didn't give any explanation as to why and in what capacity Sridhar is being appointed. We were just told that Sridhar will be operating from the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai," an official, who was removed on Sunday, said.

Sachin's project hits roadblock

New Delhi: Call it government apathy or lackadaisical attitude on the part of officials as batting great Sachin Tendulkar's visionary document to integrate sports into the education system has hit a roadblock. Member of Parliament Tendulkar had opened his innings in the Rajya Sabha with a letter asking the government to focus on honing fresh talent in Indian sport, especially in schools and colleges and improving sports infrastructure at the university level. Tendulkar had addressed his letter to former Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and ex Sports Minister Ajay Maken. Tendulkar had given a two-page summary and attached a 25-slide presentation to show the road ahead for Indian sports.                 PNS/Agencies
