‘Other boards too objected to DRS’
Mumbai: It was not only the Indian cricket board but few other boards too expressed reservations on implementing the much-debated Decision Review System (DRS) uniformly in all matches during the annual conference of International Cricket Council in london, sources said on Monday. “Not only India, but other countries too (objected to its compulsory implementation) because it is not foolproof and there is a financial issue (related to it),” BCCI sources said. The ICC conference concluded on Saturday. According to the sources, the cost involved in the implementing the DRS is $15,000-16,000 per day and the broadcast right holders are not willing to bear this extra cost. As such, it will be the countries involved in bilateral series who would continue to take a call on whether to have DRS or not, the sources added.
Swann goes to hospital with arm injury

Swann batted on, making 94, but didn’t take to the field following England’s declaration. When he returned from hospital hours later, he had a bandage on his arm. Watson will open with Rogers: lehmann
Worcester: David Warner’s hopes of an immediate return to the Australia team after suspension have been dashed after coach Darren lehmann confirmed Shane Watson and Chris Rogers will open the batting in the first Ashes test against England next week. Cricket Australia revealed the selection of the openers via Twitter on Monday. Warner’s ban for punching England batsman Joe Root in a late-night bar incident last month expires in time for the first test, starting July 10 in Nottingham, but he looks to have missed out. The 35-year-old Rogers’ only previous test for Australia came in 2008 but he forced his way back into the squad on the back of consistently big scores in domestic cricket for Victoria and Western Australia. The left-hander also has experienced English conditions after playing county cricket, most recently for Middlesex.
