‘We can still take a few positives from loss’
Jaipur: Despite suffering their seventh straight defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier league, Pune Warriors opener Aaron Finch seemed quite content and said they can “still take a few positives” from the five-wicket loss to Rajasthan Royals. “We still can take a few positives from the match despite the fact that it was the same old story with losing after being so close,” Finch told reporters after the last-over finish last night. Rajasthan rode on Rahul Dravid and Ajinkya Rahane’s brisk half centuries to emerge victorious, and Finch praised the way Dravid played. “With more than thirteen thousand Test runs under his belt, his class is undoubted. He has worked hard and brought in some changes in his batting and now he’s comfortable in this format too. He has become a world class 20-20 batsman, which is an unbelievable achievement. As one of the best Test batsman he understands the game well. He got the job done like a surgeon,” Finch said.
Modest Rahane praises RR bowlers
Jaipur: He might have been the star of Rajasthan Royals’ win over Pune Warriors in a high-scoring IPl thriller but Ajinkya Rahane was modest about his role, opting to praise his team’s bowlers for keeping it tight in the death overs. Chasing 179, Rajasthan romped home with five wickets and a ball to spare last night. Rahane was the star for them bagging the match of the match honour for striking a 48-ball knock of 67. “I feel our bowlers came back strongly and restricted the visitors a good 10-15 run short then what was expected at one stage. They should be given credit for the way they bowled in last 6-7 overs,” said Rahane after the match here.
learning ropes of captaincy from MSD: Bravo
Mumbai: West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who has been named as the team's captain for the ICC Champions Trophy said that he is learning a lot from his Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. "The way you have MS carry himself on and off the field, I have learnt a lot for him. I spend a lot more time talking to him about cricket. Obviously, India will come up against the West Indies team (when they play Champions Trophy) in England. I am happy being led by him. I learn a lot from him and I am enjoying every moment of it," Bravo told reporters here.
Case filed against Dhoni
Bangalore: A case has been registered in a local court against Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for allegedly “denigrating” a Hindu god and “hurting” the religious sentiments of the Hindus. The 6th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Choori Khan registered a case under section 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) along with 34 of the Indian Penal Code against Dhoni on a complaint filed by social activist Jayakumar Hiremath. In his complaint, Hiremath alleged that by posing for an advertisement in a business magazine as lord Vishnu holding several things including a shoe in his hands, Dhoni had denigrated the Hindu god and hurt religious feelings of the Hindus. Taking cognisance of the offence and registering the case, the court posted it to May 12 for recording of the statement of the complainant.
