Zee TV’s new show Yaaron Ki Baraat, that went on air last week, is all about celebs and their friendships. Anchal Sharma talks to host Sajid Khan about the fun he is having on board

We all want to know whether celebs like, the common man, has friends and whether their friendship lasts forever. It was only a matter of time when a show on the same was made. Yaadon Ki Baraat is a 20-episode 10-week show where the viewers will get to see some of their favourite stars with the best friends. The hosts — Sajid Khan, who has previously hosted shows likeIkke Pe Ikka, Super Sale and Kehne Mein Kya Harz Hai, along with Riteish Deshmukh will introduce us to some such friendships that have been forged over the years which has already seen the likes of Amitabh Bachchan with Shatrughan Sinha and Karan Johar with Farah Khan.

Now all eyes are on the next episode airing tonight at 8pm where cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraaj Singh will share untold stories of their friendship and make some confessions.

These include flicking towels from their rooms in 5-star hotels to gate-crash weddings at the Maharani Club of Patiala by simply joining a bunch of dancing baraatis, playing with kids and making a beeline straight to the ice cream counter as ‘that’s the first to get over at shaadis’. The partners in crime Yuvraaj and Harbhajan Singh will be sharing more such mischievous stories.

The duo will recount how they first met at a Sector 16 ground in Chandigarh when Harbhajan was training at Kapil Dev’s Bowling Academy. “Sukhi hui dandi par jaise knicker chadhaayi ho” is Yuvraaj’s description of his first impression of India’s ‘turbanator’. Bhajji, on the other hand, remembers having frowned at this bade baap ka bigda hua ladka until the two finally got to know each other a little better.

The concept of this show is unique and different from other chat shows. Celebrity best friends will come together on a fun-filled chat and put their friendship to test through a series of fun challenges and tasks.

“Yaaron Ki Baraat is all about friendship between two actors. People think that stars don’t have friends in the film industry. This is a myth. People in the industry have some great friends which has lasted for decades. We have not forced any celebrity to come to our show; only those who have readily agreed to come with their best friend from the industry. This show is all about how the friendships started, pulling a leg and have some fun,” Sajid tells you.

Recalling his experience of the first episode of Yaaron Ki Baraat in which Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha had made an appearance,  on the set, Sajid tells you that the who thing was surreal.

“We were speechless and nervous; there were butterflies in our stomach. It felt like we were giving our Board exam. It was really a historic moment to have the two legends of Indian cinema for our grand premiere episode. luckily everything went off smoothly. It was absolutely great to hear the two talk about their friendship and reveal each others’ secrets and talk about the good and bad habits. Riteish and I really enjoy the whole experience. I am sure those who watched the show would have felt the same,” Sajid says.

He also tells you that he and Riteish have been good friends for more than 15 years. “One can’t choose one’s siblings but one can choose one’s friend. Riteish has been there for me all the way — in good and bad. He is family now. He is very mischievous yet a very nice person. He is definitely yaaron ka yaar. Hosting the show with him is just taking our experience of friendship  a little further. We are having a lot of fun on the sets,” he says.

Some of the other celeb friends that one will get to see are Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh, Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor.
