Power Couple, the upcoming reality show adapted from the Israeli original, will take the test of love with top 10 couples of the entertainment world. SANGEETA YADAV does a set visit to tell you how it is different

What’s life like behind the glitz and glamour world of celebrity couplesIJ Do erratic work schedules take a toll on their marriageIJ How much do they love each otherIJ  To what extent can they go for their life partner and what makes them so successfulIJ

From Nach Baliye, Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi  to Patni Patni Aur Woh, showmakers  down the years have tried giving insights into the life of celebrity couples. However, Power Couple on Sony Entertainment TV, hosted by Bollywood’s most dashing couple, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan, promises to be different.

In picturesque Goa, top 10 couples have been staying at the beautiful villa Pyaar Ka Basera, undergoing mental, emotional and physical tasks to test their love, trust, compatibility, sacrifice, patience and understanding with each other. Before each task, a partner has to invest trust points in his/her better half’s chances of winning. The least scoring team will get eliminated every week after a voting session among all couples. The winning couple will take away the title of the Power Couple.

Doesn’t that sound like a Splitsvilla, Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss comboIJ “First, unlike other shows, this one will have positivity, romance and a journey that will give the audience hope and happiness. Second, the kind of language people use in other reality shows is vulgar. In Power Couple, we’ve listed terminologies strictly not to be used.

“Third, romance is diminishing in most marriages. It’s an extremely important emotion as it helps you see the positives in each other. Even when the couples get eliminated, their relationship will not get affected. They go back with the memories about where their relationship stands and what their really need to work on if at all,” Anup Vishwanathan, senior VP and head marketing, Sony Entertainment Television, says.

Based on a hit Israeli reality show, Power Couple is produced and indianised by lalit Sharma, producer of Colosceum India. The show has 26 episodes and will run for 13 weeks.

Talking about the hosts, Vishwanathan says: “Malaika and Arbaaz not judges. They are mentors. They are like Krishna in Mahabharat who take the emotional pressure of everyone and directs them into action.” While Naved Jaffrey and his wife Sayeeda shared an arranged-cum-love affair, Jesse Randhawan and Sandeep Soparkar’s love story started on the dance floor 11 years ago. “It is dance that got us together and is keeping us together. I believe power comes from togetherness and not from winning a task or a show. Each task is about togetherness and that’s what is important in real life. live each moment to the fullest,” Sandeep Soparkar says.

There are some who found their life partner in their good friends like Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh, and Delnaz Irani and Percy Karkaria. “He is an angel and a blessing in disguise in my life rather than a boyfriend. He came around the time when life was in a shambles. We became very good friends. life has given me a second chance. love blossoms from a good friendship and when you realise it, you feel the depth in the relationship. This is Percy’s debut on TV,” Delnaz Irani says.

Having met at a coffee shop through a common friend, cupid struck Shilpa Saklani and Apoorva Agnihotri and they emerged as TV’s hot couple. The love story of Ashmit Patel and Mehak Chahal started at a gym and the love between models-turned-actors Mugdha Godse and Rahul Dev into the power couple of the fashion and modelling world. For cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola, Ria Banerjee, whom he met over the social media, brought a new ray of hope helping him to get over alcoholism and depression. Then there’s Pratyusha Banerjee and actor-turned-producer Rahul Raj Singh who will be competing in various tasks.

The channel has given a big opportunity to Kritika and Vishal from Gurgaon (they won a contest) to compete for the title alongside the celebrities.
