A movie that starts on such a happy and high note is bound to go only one way — the sad and violent way. Not that Bollywood is not capable of coming out with goody goody movies. But such movies are rare and far between.

So, Rangrezz takes off on how friendship comes before all, even before a job in the police department. A tad unrealistic but then there have been many instances in real life where people have stood by their friends come what may. The problem with this one is that even though is has some sort of social message that is woven in — subtley of course — it has too much of everything. While this may be good and works for most movies, here is only ends up in a mess that the soryline could have doen without. It is loud without the the need for the loudness, it is funny without being rib-tickling funny. There are fights and blood without the need for it.

But there is one thing good about this movie — the performaces. Director Priyadarshan has ensured that Jackky Bhagnani, Vijay Verma and Amitosh Nagpal play their characters to the T. A special mention to Verma (Pakkya). His anger, his cool dude attitude and being funny the next minute are worth a mention.
