After Ghazi Attack and Raazi, Bollywood has suddenly become interested in making movies on subjects and events that changed the course of history. The latest to join the list is Romeo, Akbar, Walter — RAW. The makers, of course, have chosen the names for a specific reason which is quite evident.
There are a couple of reasons why John Abraham plays the lead. First, he is heavily muscled. As an undercover agent, one has to look the part that he can outrun the enemy. Second, the Rocky Handsome star is not known to be expressive. An agent has to have a poker face with no tells. Abraham is all this and much more.
But RAW is not your usual high speed chase kind of spy thriller. It is a slow burner. Director Robbie Grewal is in no hurry to speed things despite the suspense and the thrill quotient. Kudos to him. The twists and turns keep up on the edge till the very end especially the climax.
Go see this one in the name of all those people who have been serving the country knowing that their work will never bring them accolades and that if caught,death stares them in the face.
