I t is a tad strange why director Amaan Khan would want to make an animation on a subject when a full-fledged serial on the same is being aired on Star Plus, that too with a storyline which is very basic — like a story one would narrate to a five-year-old just before bedtime.
The fact that Bollywood has not risen above the quality of animation it has been churning out for the past coupl e of years means that this epic saga will not have many takers. The film not only has voice overs from the likes of Big B, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn and Vidya Balan but has their lookalikes too in caricatures which could have been done better, especially that of Draupadi. However, the sets are elaborate and the final fight sequences has some show of fireworks, literally. The fact that there are not many sub-plots makes it easy for the toddlers to follow. But the kids today are smart and hope they don’t come out feeling disappointed.
