Heropanti

Starring: Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon, Sandeepa Dhar, Vikram Singh, Prakash Raj

Rated: 5.5/10

Apart from the joke that is doing the rounds — that Tiger Shroff looks more like Jackie Chan’s daughter than Jackie Shroff’s son — this star son has not done such a bad job as most newcomers do. He may be a bit effeminate and may need a bit of colour (he is a tad pale) he certainly knows how to do some great stunts.

But some of the credit should also go to Anil Arasu who has come up with some awesome moves. Director Sabbir Khan has ensured that these action sequences play out big on the 70 mm screen. In fact, the saving grace of this Heropanti are the stunts.

Of course, the movie also has good songs — Whistle Baja, Raat Bhar, Tere Binaa — to name a few. Add to this is new heroine — Kriti Sanon. Sadly, there is nothing much for this debutant except look pretty and do a song and dance and generally be the daddy’s girl. In this case Prakash Raj.

Yes, the man is known for his villainy but in this one, he has a slightly different role. He is seen crying like a baby and tears well up in his eyes at the drop of a hat. looks like Mr Raj is tired of playing the baddie and being beaten by the likes of Salman Khan (Wanted), Ajay Devgn (Singham) to name a few and wants a change. At least here, he doesn’t get beaten up by our chikna hero. — would be sasur hain na.

As for Tiger, despite the rather pink lips and lack of chemistry with his on-screen lead, he manages to endear himself. For the simple reason — kya karu yaar sabko aati nahi (heropanti) meri jati nahi. So, his heropanti gets to you. The fact that he is comfortable in the role that he plays, that of Bablu, lends some sort of charm to the movie. As for his acting, he needs to work quite a bit on his expressions. A little difficult to see the same plastered on his face all of 146 minutes.

On the whole, the movie makes for a one time watch and has some fun moments with Sunil Grover doing a blink and miss role.
