Wah Taj

Cast: Shreyas Talpade, Manjari Fadnis, Hemant Pandey, Rajesh Sharma

Rated: 4/10

As far as concepts go, Wah Taj comes up with a totally different approach to a problem that appears to be a favourite with some Bollywood directors and producers — a nexus between the politicians and the bad businessmen who will go to any lengths to have their way and will even kill.

The good part is that the approach is fresh but that is all that this movie has to offer in terms of a storyline which could have been compelling and hard-hitting had Bollywood not been so obsessed with showing stereotyped politicians — only interested in watching porn, being part of raunchy parties and the fact that money makes the world go round for them.

We have seen enough movies over decades of this kind and don’t really need more visuals of the same kind. It would have been better if director Ajit Sinha would have spent more time on highlighting the plight of the farmers and their ongoing struggle rather on inanities of how our politicians work.

Shreyas Talpade who returns to the big screen after a gap of four years manages to hold his ground though his character lacks the conviction in talking about the corrupt practices of the system.
