SOURABH Raaj Jain enters Porus

The handsome actor Sourabh Raaj Jain has finally made a grand entry in Sony Entertainment Television’s magnum opus show Porus as Dhananand who is the proud King of Magadh. His entry was not simple but a lavish one. The ace actor made a musical entry and performed a Kathak sequence gracefully for the opening sequence. In a limited time period, Sourabh rehearsed for his act and gave his best shot. The tall and handsome Sourabh Raaj Jain will be seen portraying a negative character on the show and had mentioned that he is exploring a new side to his acting career.

When asked, Sourabh says: “Dhananand is a lover of arts and music. My character gets introduced in a classical dance sequence in which I danced kathak for the first time. Since it’s a running show I did not get time for proper rehearsals which made me extremely anxious. But with the help of my dance master I performed the sequence as best as I could in that limited time.”

King Dhananand was the youngest son and the powerful King of Magadh who was very intelligent and a connoisseur of art and music. Magadh was the most wealthiest and a thriving kingdom of its time.

Ravan Leela in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai

The Ravan Leela sequence in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain is making actor Rohitash Gour very nostalgic as he is essaying the role of Ravan in the sequence. He says: “I belong to a small town Kalka in Haryana. Ram Leela used to take place in my town and there was always a discussion about who will play Ravan. I was always fond of the cruel laughter of Ravan and loved this dialogue of Ravan, ‘Jab main chalta hoon toh dharti tharthara jati hain, puri prithvi hil jaati hain, kyuki hum hain lankesh, lankapati Ravan. This dialogue was so impactful that I still remember it.”

Talking about dressing up as Ravan, he adds: “It takes me around one hour to get ready as there is so much makeup that needs to be applied to make me look like Ravan. His costume is the most essential part. The makeup of eyes and moustache is also very important and essential as it contributes to a great part of how Ravan looks.”

The actor feels that Ram Leela should be performed every year. “It has been a tradition in our society and it should not extinguish. It’s a very beautiful learning. Many actors’ journey in this industry would have been started from Ram Leela and nobody would deny that fact. Today's generation is unaware of our tradition. Recently, I visited Kalka with my daughter and when she saw Ram Leela, she stood amazed and asked so many questions. Today's generation is unaware that the digitalisation and the visual effects were not there in the past and in past other beautiful tactics were used to make it look presentable,” he says.

Festive spirit

Keeping the festive spirit alive and celebrating the significance of Vijayadashami, actors Drashti Dhami& Aditi Sharma were graciously draped in traditional white saris with red borders and also adorned traditional jewelleries that brought out the magnificence of the Bengali tradition — SindurKhela! Known as a vermillion game where married Bengali Hindu women apply sindur on the forehead and feet of the goddess and offer sweets to her then go around applying sindur on each other's faces.

With the current track showcasing how Kunal (Shakti Arora) has left Mauli (Aditi Sharma) for Nandini (DrashtiDhami) and continues to go ahead with their relationship despite societal pressure. A shocked Mauli, gets upset when she unknowingly applies sindur on Nandini as the festival symbolises the power of womanhood and her praying to keep her family away from all evil. Through the ritual of SindurKhela, the Bengali Hindu women also pray for long and happy married lives of each other, which is why having Nandini be a part of the festivities truly enraged Mauli.
