Rated: 7/10
Those who have never seen a Star Wars movie, may find it difficult to understand why the fans are going ga-ga over this one. The opening day in the US on Thursday has already made $14.1 million dollars. The problem the uninitiated are going to face is trying to find out who is who and what the hullabaloo is all about. But that doesn’t mean that one can’t pick up the thread and miss out on a film that began its journey back in 1977 and literally took the world by storm.
The Star War series fans can’t seem to get enough of these movies. Why seems to be a mystery given that fact that the creatures — read aliens — are more of a lump of flesh especially those on planet Corellia. Even their hounds are nothing but a lump of flesh with really ugly, dirty and sharp teeth. Okay, so they are ‘aliens’. But who said that they have to be downright uglyIJ Somehow Hollywood has to make all aliens look hideous. If there was life outside of planet Earth and if God forbid the extraterrestrials managed to get their hands on one these movies, our planet would be in danger just because the filmmakers could not come up with prettier alien faces.
But if one can manage to get past the ugliness, then one can sit back and enjoy the roller coaster ride this one takes you on that has plenty of action and CGI effects that will keep you engrossed for the entire 135 minutes.
What works for the fans is how Hans Solo (played by Alden Ehreneich in this one) got his name — a character played by Harrison Ford in the earlier Star War movies—, how he met Chewbacca, of the Wookie species and most importantly how Solo got his hands on the Millennium Falcon.
