Power couple Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan talk to SANGEETA YADAV about sharing space on small screen

What’s it like to be together on screenIJ

Arbaaz Khan (AK): I’m hosting a show for the first time. I was nervous. But when I read the concept, I liked it. Malaika, who has hosted many reality shows, encouraged me.

Malalika Arora Khan (MAK): Sach, pyaar mein bahut power hota hai and this show will test the power of love, give you a glimpse into their previous lives and deal with relationship issues. We thought we had seen it all in more than two decades of our relationship. But we were amazed to see how our contestants had stuck together in bad times. Experiencing their pain and happiness helped us in our relationship.

Was it a mutual decision to take up this showIJ

AK: Yes. This show required a couple who had a very strong relationship. We’ve a 13-year-old son and to do a show together gave us a lot of time as parents. This show will touch the heart of the audience.

Salman Khan is also hosting a reality show. Do you think there will be a comparisonIJ

AK:There is no competition between Salman and me. He will be very happy to see me moving on from being a judge to a host.

Have you gone through any task to prove your love on the showIJ

MAK: Arbaaz knows what I like. We are dependent on each other for little things like winding the wrist watch which I don’t know. It may sound silly but he does it for me and I feel good about it. A little bit of inter-dependence is good. In the promo, Arbaas gives me a book to read on how to speak Hindi fluently. I give him one on how to host a reality show.

What kind of bond do you share with Salman and othersIJ

AK: Our family is ready to die for each other and our biggest strength is that we are all strongly bonded. Even though we don’t interfere in each other’s personal lives, when support is needed we rush in to help.

What is the secret of being a power coupleIJ

MAK: There is nothing like a perfect couple. As a partner, you should know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and unconditionally love and respect each other. A couple should also give space to each other. Marriage doesn’t mean that you have got control over your life partner.
