There is only one reason why anyone would like to go and see Ek Paheli leela and that is Sunny leone. Bobby Khan has made sure that one gets to see her and only her and that too in all her fineries. It is a different matter that most of the times she is in a micro-mini— skirt when she is in london (she is a super model) or a dhoti-style skirt (when she plays a Rajasthani belle).
One, of course, wants to know where in Rajsthan, and that too 300 years back, did women get away by wearing such short dhoti skirt or for that matter a chholi with no dupattaIJ And on top of that face uncovered! It is a good thing that the director has not tried to pin this on some nomadic tribe of the region or one is sure there would have been a riot.
Anyways back to the movie. There is nothing that is there that this film has to offer when it comes to the story. It stops, picks up and then begins again which gets on one’s nerves after some time. However, due credit should be given to the cinematographer who has captured the colours of Rajasthan brilliantly. The riot of colours against the backdrop of sand is perhaps the one bright spot here combined with some nice jewellery that Sunny leone has worn.
While the music is passable, there are so many songs that it reminds one of a 60s movie when the hero and heroine broke into a song a dance every five minutes. The good thing is that the lyrics are good and with leone on the dance floor, the men are sure to go gaga over her. But as far as her acting is concerned, may be she should be given roles where she doesn’t have much to do. There is a lot that she has to learn in the acting department. As is the urgent need to work on her accent even though she does somewhat manage to get her Rajasthani dialect correct. To be anywhere in Bollywood looking like a baby doll, dressing up and made-up will not get her far. As for Mohit Ahlawat (who plays Ranveer) he appears to starched and upright all the time. Jas Arora is so OTT that one cringes every time he makes an appearance.
Since there is no paheli to solve here, go see this one only if you are a very big Sunny leone fan.
