Seven-year-old Virad Tyagi, winner of Sabse Bada Kalakar, talks to Akanksha Soni about his experience on the reality show

How does it feel like to become the winner of the Sabse Bada KalakarIJ

When I got selected for the show, I didn’t think  of taking it up to win the competition. I just wanted to have some fun. But I won and the show has left a huge impact on me. After so much of practice, I can now act like anyone. My acting has improved a lot. I also made a lot of friends.

You are famous for doing mimicry of the politicians. How did you get a hang of itIJ

I didn’t know how to act to being with. When I got to know about the reality show, my uncle, Ankush Joshi, helped me for the auditions; I was lucky I got selected. He gave me one-liners of famous people. I would use these to enact in their style.

Your biggest challenge.

I have stage fright. Every time I would stand to perform in front of the judges, I would get scared. It was a challenge to break this. But the good part was that I never let others know of my fear while doing my act. The fact that my performances turned out to be much better than what I used to do in practice sessions boosted my confidence.

Best moment from the show.

When I was given the Best Actor of the Week title for my Begum Shohar act. It was very unexpected and  I had a lot of fun doing it.

Did you ever think of giving upIJ

Yes, sometimes, when the act would become so difficult that I couldn’t do it. Then my mom would help me out. Imitating Gandhiji was the toughest.

What are your interests other than actingIJ

I like singing and playing outdoor games.

If not you, who do you think would have won Sabse Bada Kalakar titleIJ

Mandeep Sekhon and Vrinda Gujral had a very good chance. Their acts are too good.

What are your future plansIJ

Now I will study, and look for more opportunities to act in TV shows and films.
