Manisha Sharma tells SANGEETA YADAV that the show is about teaching people to be philanthropic
What message does Mission Sapne deliverIJ
It is an aspirational feel good show. Getting a celebrity to do a common man’s job can inspire millions to come forward and help people in need. This show is our endeavour to give back to the society.
How has this show made a difference in the life of the celebritiesIJ
They have not only spent a day living the life of a common man but have helped raise money. For example, Ram Kapoor was so touched by the struggles of taxi driver Kiran that he decided to give her money over and above what we gave. By the end of the 10 episodes, the impact of the struggles of the common man on celebrities will be evident.
How difficult is it for the celebrities to live the life of a commonerIJ
Regardless of the celebrities’ star value, they worked extra hard to ensure that the cause and person they were supporting would be able to lead a better life. For the same, they not only used their stardom and popularity to pull the crowd, but also used their personalities to encourage fans and audiences to contribute funds. For Ranbir, the experience was like undergoing an auditioning which required him to not sell food and put a price on every request to ensure his final goal — of helping young cancer patient Sunita Ingle was achieved.
Does one need superstars and a channel to alleviate the common man’s problemsIJ
Any help that can be provided to people facing hardships for a better life goes a long way. While it will not be right to comment on whether more such shows should be explored, we are looking at working on Season 2 to help create more awareness in society.
