Jennifer Winget who plays Maya in Beyhadh on Sony TV talks to ANCHAl SHARMA about her role and how she loves herself

What is the show all aboutIJ

Beyhadh is a romantic thriller presenting two different shades of love — one driven by obsession and the other by selflessness and purity. It is the story of Maya (Jennifer), Arjun (Kushal) and Saanjh (Aneri). While Maya is an insomniac sociopath, Arjun is her boyfriend and Saanjh a lawyer. What happens when their paths cross with one of them rewriting their destinies is what the show is about.

How this show is different from othersIJ

It is a good change for the audience as well as for me as an actor.

Tell us about your characterIJ

It is not a negative character. I play a charming and smart sociopath who is a girl of few words. She expects you to understand what she says in a few words. She can make you despise her but can just as easily win you back with a smile.

Is your character inspired by Kajol in GuptIJ

No, it’s not inspired from any character. It’s a character that is different from what’s been happening right now in television.

How similar or different are you from your onscreen characterIJ

I am not like Maya at all in real life. I am not very obsessive kind of person. I love myself more than anybody else in the world. I don’t have time for anybody else other than me.

What kind of challenges did you faceIJ

It’s amazing the amount I had to unlearn. The challenge was also that Maya is a lady of few words so I had to be in that zone to understand the character and be able to say a lot in a few words. I actually stopped talking to people around me because I had to be centred and focused.

What is your dream roleIJ

I would like to venture into action. I have not done that. So, I would really like to try it.

Do you think love should be obsessiveIJ What is your definition of your loveIJ

I think love should be love. love should be about happiness and that’s about it.
