From revenge drama & romance to suspense and mystery, laado: Veerpur Ki Mardani brings new twists and turns post a leap, making the show more edgy and captivating. Sangeeta Yadav brings you a report
As laado: Veerpur Ki Mardani took a six months leap, the tale of drama and revenge got a new twist with the introduction of the Sethi family in Chandigarh where Anushka, played by Avika Gor, impersonates as Juhi, their long-lost daughter. A new love track is all set to unfold with, Shaurya played by Siddharth Arora.
“After a six-month leap, the show has become more edgy and mysterious. It will be interesting to see the new twist Juhi’s character brings to the Sethi family, how she will juggle between the two worlds which we have created in Veerpur and Chandigarh and how she comes out to be more stronger,” producer Dhaval Gada says.
The biggest twist hit the show during its first few weeks when dabang Ammaji, played by Meghna Malik, gets murdered and Anushka takes revenge mission forward as the new Ammaji.
“It was not an abrupt exit for Ammaji. Ever since we started the show, we had chalked out integral plots in the storyline with twists and turns and we are sticking to it," Gada says.
Before going for a six-month leap, the show showed how Anushka avenges the rape and murder of her younger sister by Rantej and his brothers. She castrates all of them. Angered by this, Rantej’s mother Malhari plans her own revenge from Anushka, her daughter-in-law who is married to her elder nephew Yuvraj (played by Shaleen Malhotra). To save Anushka from the attack, Yuvraj loses his life and Anushka falls off the cliff and is considered missing.
But why not end the season and come up with part three of laado instead of taking a leapIJ “We didn’t want to take a break. That is how Indian television works in the daily soap genre — no breaks and we don’t make shows season-wise in order to keep the audience glued. Instead, we take leaps to continue for a longer time and introduce a new plot, characters and twists,” Gada says.
After the leap, Malhari and her sons’ atrocities on villagers continues and Malhari look for ways to get Yuvraj and Anushka’s property. Until they prove Anushka is dead, they can’t get the property.
“The family thinks that Anushka is dead but they have not been able to prove it in court since her body is missing. So to get the property, they have to wait for some years. That is where I come into the picture as Tarantej who is a senior lawyer. He is very stoic and calm and not hassled by anything. He is very straight yet blunt in communicating with others. He knows how to play with words and situations. He is emotionless yet hits the right chord," Nasir Khan says.
On the other side in Chandigarh, another mystery waits to be unfolded about Anushka impersonating as Juhi and backstory behind Sethi family. Moreover, Siddharth Arora will spice up the drama by playing Shaurya, her childhood friend and love interest.
“It feels good to be a part of a successful franchise. The character is very intense in his love for Juhi who he thought had lost her in childhood. Shaurya is a pure soul and very honest. He has been in the Juvenile jail for some reason. He is a fighter and takes out all his anger through his fights. He feels that his prayers for Juhi to come back get answered and feels very happy to see Juhi. The serial will show how the love between them blossoms and how he joins her in her fight against Malhari and her sons who killed her husband Yuvraj,” Arora says.
Though the track has been shifted to Sethi family in Chandigarh, the focus of the show remains the same. “The show will centre around how Anushka will return to fight for her right and for the justice of Veerpur’s womenfolk. But she would not be alone in this. Shaurya will support her. They share a great chemistry on screen. As the show will progress, lots of puzzles will get solved and the dots will be joined,” Arora tells you.
