Here’s good news for Kumkum Bhagya fans. Soon, there will be a spin-off of this popular series on Zee TV, says PARTH TAYAl
It is one of the most watched shows even today — after 875 episodes — a simple love story of Abhi and Pragya in Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV. Due to its huge success, Ekta Kapoor is all set to air a spin-off of this daily soap Kundli Bhagya which will be telecast from July 12, 2017 at 9:30 pm and will replace Ek Thha Raja Ek Thhi Rani.
The story of this new daily soap emerges from its original show, a multi-layered narrative of Kumkum Bhagya and its underlying sub-plots that have the potential to be told from different perspectives and varied lens.
Though Pragya and Abhi are not part of the new show, the prime-time fiction series will narrate the story of Pragya’s sisters Preeta and Shrishti, their attempt to reunite with their mother Sarla and their dynamics with the luthras. The journey here is all about the sparks that will fly when Preeta, Rishabh (Abhi’s manager), Karan (Rishabh’s younger brother) and Shrishti meet.
“After the success of Pavitra Rishta, Jodha Akhbar, Kumkum Bhagya, and Brahmarakshas, we are happy to associate yet again with Ekta Kapoor to bring an innovative narrative of Kundli Bhagya,” Deppak Rajadhyaksha, deputy business head of Zee TV, says.
In this spin-off, Ekta Kapoor brings alive several characters. Each of them real, unique, and with a back story of their own. Their flaws, quirks, individual traits, aspirations and insecurities make them immensely relatable.
Speaking in the Capital to promote the show, Ekta Kapoor said that the reason for this spin-off was to make the characters of Kundli Bhagya more relatable. “We decided to take its essence from Kumkum Bhagya and explore the world which it was unable to do.”
She also said that the new show is totally different from the original. “When Kumkum Bhagya started, it had that taste of simplicity to it in the beginning, but soon with all the drama and conspiracies coming into play, it lost that simplicity. I wanted to recreate that simplicity and that is what will make all the difference,” Kapoor said.
