Now thatComedy Nights with Kapil (CNWK) is off air, the question is what is going to replace this showIJ There had been rumours that Krushna Abhishek would be the new host of this new show slated for 10 pm. The same has now been confirmed by the channel. Then what happens to Comedy Nights Bachao (CNB)IJ What will happen to the characters of CNWK that tickled our funny bonesIJ Will the audience get a chance to interact and shake a leg with their favourite celebritiesIJ
Reports that Kapil Sharma and the channel were having problems had been doing rounds for sometime. And it all started with Gutthi aka Sunil Grover leaving the show due to tiff with Kapil Sharma to culminate with the channel launching a parallel show Comedy Nights Bachao (CNB).
“Everything has a start and an end. This show also had to end leaving many people feeling sad about it. I don’t know the actual reason for the show going off air but yes there were differences with the channel and things were not working out,” Upasana Singh, played bua in CNWK, says.
The promos of the new show — Comedy Nights live (CNl) show that Krushna has donned many hats. First as a broker who is looking for a new tenant for Bittoo Sharma’s house. Second dressed up as Ghalib who says: “Paados mein kya thhi bua, apne saath he khelti thhi juaa. lagta hai naya padosi aane wale hai. Aab apni bhi hai itni si dua, ki unme bhi ho patakedaar bua.”
Another promo shows comedian Rashmi Desai as a kaamwaali bai who is seen mopping the floor saying — yaha ek maalkin thi jo apne hooto pe poocha lagati thi.
Unlike CNB and CNWK, CNl is going to be a stand-up comedy to be hosted by Krushna and have other comedians like Bharati Singh, Siddharth Sagar, Sudesh lehri. Comedy Nights Bachao will remain true to its format and will be aired on the same time slot — Saturday 10 pm. The celebrities, who were coming to promote their movies on CNWK, will now do the same on CNB.
Meanwhile, CNl will also have celebrity guests who will get entertained and be a part of the stand-up gag. Grapevine has it that the first episode, which is going on air from today, will have the dhak dhak girl Madhuri Dixit as the guest. The channel is leaving no stone unturn to get a good TRP opening to make sure that CNl is more popular than CNWK which is similar to the latter in more than one way. Apart from the set ofCNWK, there are many other similarities between these two shows.
Besides a similar setup, Upasana Singh who played bua in CNWK continues to don the hat of the aunt. Talking about her character she tells you that though the CNWK has come to an end, the characters will stay alive in the memory of the people and in actor’s DNA. “Out of all these characters, bua will still be alive inCNl. This happened because my contract with the channel didn’t come to an end. Then they offered me to play the same role in CNl, I didn’t said yes without any hesitation,” Singh says.
The makers are planning to bring some interesting changes in the bua’s role. “The character is already popular with the audience. But the makers are making small changes. We’ll tweak it as per the requirement in the skit and keep on surprising our fans,” Singh says adding that Optimystix Entertainment which has made shows like Comedy Circus, Comedy Nights Bachao, Comedy Classes and now Comedy Nights live are pro at it.
“The production house has been making comedy shows from more than 15 years now. They have a strong team of creative writers, who have not only come up with something new with every new episodes but also worked on various genres in comedy that has never been explored before in the Indian entertainment scene,” Singh tells you hoping that the new show will be a hit with the viewers as it also has Navjot Singh Sidhu as the permanent guest.
But willCNl match up to the CNWKIJ Well, only time will tell.
