The problem with all Bollywood films is that they all bend towards melodrama, tears and many heated words exchanged as it comes to its final stage. It is almost as if the director didn’t know how to end it and decided that drama, emotions and tears will do the needful. But they have forgotten that the audience has now got used to watching good content. Any misstep and it is game end.

That is the malady that Mimi suffers from. It starts off on a good note. There are plenty of laughs in the beginning. The dialogues and situations are funny and make one laugh. The whole dialogue around surrogacy and how people in India are still amazed how it all works will bring a smile on one’s  face.

The best of all is the performance by Manoj Pahwa, Surpiya Pathak, Pankaj Tripathi and Sheikh Ishaque Mohammad. Supriya Pathak and Manoj Pahwa give a good performance. But the person who steals the show is Pankaj Tripathi. As Bhanu, a taxi driver, he is absolutely awesome. His expressions are just a treat to watch. In some ways, he is the person steering this ship even though it has Kriti Sanon in the lead. Director Laxman Utekar has captured Tripathi’s expressions so beautifully that it is brilliant.

Sheikh Ishaque Mohammad, who plays Aatif, is another young actor who needs to be lauded for his performance. As a student of Manoj Pahwa, he is funny and his little observations makes you laugh and smile the minute he comes on the screen.

There are plenty of emotions; there is masala as well and an item song, not that it was needed. Since, it is based in the backdrop of a small town of Rajasthan means that the movie is as realistic as it can get despite the unnecessary drama in the end.
