BADlAPUR BOYS

Staring: Nishan, Saranya Mohan, Annu Kapoor, Puja Gupta

Rated: 5.5/10

Directed by Shailesh Verma and produced by Karrm Movies, Badlapur Boys is a story of Vijay and his life in the village which is deprived of water for irrigation for decades. In order to fight the system and his father sets himself ablaze before the villagers and the media but as fate would have it, his sacrifice is soon forgotten and it is the family who pays a heavy price for it.

Vijay grows up with the dream that one day, he will meet the people concerned with a simple request — that his village 'needs the Government’s assistance to solve the water crisis. And the only solution that he sees is to play kabaddi.

As a concept, the movie may have all the things in the right place but the first-time director took many issues at hand and the end result does nothing to improve the film.

The songs are bad as are the dances. The acting is average and so is everything else in Badlapur Boys. While the rural setting of the movie is real enough, the urban audience will find no connect with either the setting or the characters who go about their daily lives as if the rest of the world doesn’t exist for them.  Of course, the kabaddi match does keep on interested — not in the movie but the game.
