PRAKRITI ROY catches up with anchors of Dubai Diaries, a theme-based travel show on NDTV Goodtimes
Dubai is hot on the tourist circuit for Indians. However, there is much more to be explored in this multi-dimensional city. Dubai Diaries on NDTV Goodtimes will explore these unknown facts and nooks of the megapolis.
Through a number of anchors, each hosting an episode and exploring different aspects of the magical city, the viewers will be shown all they can possibly do when in Dubai.
Anchor Ambika Anand, who will be hosting two episodes in the 10-part series, will be looking at fashion and wedding shopping in Dubai. “I’ve been to Dubai 10 times on personal visits and for work. I went there as a real estate journalist when they were building The Palms. I even went there to get through heartbreaks and for adventure sports,” she reveals. For her, the thing to do there is sky diving.
Freishia, another anchor who does luxury travel shows for the channel, will be exploring the city as a romantic getaway and things for couples to do. “I will also be bringing you the luxurious things to do there. I had a lot of beautiful experiences in the desert, staying in a beautiful villa with a private swimming pool and taking hot air balloon rides,” he says. Freishia feels that sitting by the fountains and having a romantic dinner is must-do in Dubai. “There is something very special about that experience where it’s just you and your partner,” she says.
Whether it is shopping, the Great Dubai Sale, the desert safari or the mesmerising hot air balloon ride over golden sand dunes expanding into the horizon as far as the eyes can see there is something for everyone.
Neha Dixit, whom you may recognise from the travel shows on Switzerland, talked about the concept of multiple anchors. “Since there is a different theme for every episode, I could do exactly what I like to do. Otherwise, as a travel anchor, you usually end up doing what the audience wants to see and what they would like to do when they visit a place. I picked the adventure theme and I did so many different adventure and family fun activities. So I ended up doing skiing, playing camel polo and indulging in water sports.”
A highly recommended activity is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Neha says that she went birding and it was a very different experience because people never associate Dubai with wildlife.
The 10-part series will be telecast in two parts five in one phase which is going on and the other five scheduled for September.
