When Shilpa Shinde, who plays the beloved Angoori bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, decided to quit the show, it came as a shocker for millions of fans of the show. Her character is one of the top favourites on the show and her dialogues, like ‘laddoo ke bhaiyya’ and ‘sahi padkey hain’, are the ones that can be heard when regular people are talking among themselves.
However, her exit has not been amicable at all. Shukla has not only quit the show but has also left behind a trail of accusations against the production house, Edit II, and her producer, Benaifer Kohli. Shukla claims that she was harassed on the sets, her remuneration was not increased, she was being replaced on the show, her co-star Saumya Tandon was getting preferential treatment and so on. Moreover, she even submitted a medical certificate claiming that she was not well enough to shoot.
The producers have in return slapped a legal notice on the actress and have gone to Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTA) with their plea. They claim that her fee has been increased twice since 2014. Kohli added, “She has also been in breach of the contractual terms by reporting late for shoots, ordering her own costumes while there was a designated leading designer and arm twisting us to pay for the same. We have been giving into all her demands even though such demands are contrary to the terms of the agreement she has entered into with us.”
Furthermore, Kohli also said that Shukla wanted to work on other channels in spite of the ‘exclusivity clause’ in her contract with them. Doing rounds is a report that Shukla shot for The Kapil Sharma Show while she was on medical leave. As per a leading daily, Shukla has confirmed that she will be a part of Kapil’s show. She was not available for comment.
Meanwhile, the CINTA has directed Shukla to resume shooting forbhabhiji, leaving the actress extremely angry and reluctant to continue. As per a national daily, she has decided to hit back through legal recourse herself.
The audience will probably be left with just one question for some time to come “Bhabiji ghar par hainIJ”
