shazam!
*ing: Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou
Rated: 6/10
What if somebody was to tell you that a superhero movie is cute, sweet and funny? The reaction would be — that is not possible. But the latest film based on DC Comics — Shazam! is not only light-hearted, the good part is that it is less angry as well.
The main reason is our hero here is a 14-year-old who turns into an adult superhero with all the trimmings. He is bullet proof, he can fly, he can lift buses, he has speed and he shoots light bolts from his fingers! Sound familiar? Yes, he is many superheros rolled into one. But unlike the other superheros, Shazam (Zachary Levi) aka Billy (Asher Angel) is absolutely delightful because Levi has to act like your average American teenager who is interested in tasting beer, having a peek inside an adult club and making videos on his indestructible abilities. And then take money from people who want a selfie with this superhero.
But he is a superhero, there has to be a super villain who has seven deadly sins — envy, sloth, wrath, pride, gluttony, greed and lust — riding on his shoulder , whom our kid superhero has to fight.
No prize for guessing who wins. What makes this film a must watch is that it is refreshing and makes you laugh.
