After Baywatching in style during his previous outing, Mr Rock travels to Hong Kong for a special highrise drama which he handles a prosthetic leg and a family that has to be rescued from the 96th floor of a futuristic skyscraper on fire.
Such a premise is enough for a tall building drama and Rock and his clan live up to it, what with extortion meanies on his trail not because he is rich but because he has the key to the security systems of the building constructed by a techie maestro wishing to kiss the skies much faster than even the Burj Khalifa and which a three time height of the Empire State building.
It’s a fantastic building to save all tall and elegant and with a life-size pearl to adorn its crown. But the film is not so much about heights as it is about Rock’s ability to fight off impossible situations created and recreated by the men who use his face ID to get into the system of the building to acquire something that no one else knows about.
There’s a lot at high risk element in the film and that’s what makes this extremely edgy thriller a delight to be with — with bated breath all through the film.
Though entirely Rock-centric, Skyscraper is the movie of the week and fulfills all the tall claims of action and drama that come with such films. A nail-biting experience that should not be missed.
