The Girl In The Spider’s Web

*ing: Claire Foy, Sverrir Gudnason, LaKeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant

Rated: 6.5/10

Claire Foy as the girl with the dragon tattoo just ships into this role, without making much of a rough ride despite jumping two novels on the way to the spider’s web.

This will tell you how engrossing the film is despite its dark, snow-clad brooding localing in a white Berlin. Foy, as the tomboy  vigilante punishing wife-beaters and child abusers with a fire that stems from her own childhood experience at home, keeps you seated for this gritty thriller unfolding around some cyber goons a highly destructive programme in their hands. Foy makes the chase taut and emotional at the same time, what with running down personal demons becoming a regular exercise for her despite she keeping a stone-face to all adversities around her. The film, based on Stieg Larsson’s four-novel series, never lets you miss the previous two books on which Hollywood is yet to make a film.
