Why would Sanjay Mishra want to be associated with a movie that doesn’t make sense to most but to those who live in Meerut, boggles the mind. After giving some great performance in movies like Bhoothnath Returns and Phata Poster Nikla Hero, Mishra’s talent is totally wasted here.

In fact, the portion where Mishra appears, and these are few and far between, are the only ones that make some sense and have a laugh quotient. One wished that he had been given a greater role to play than to just give a blink and you miss him role.

One would have thought that since the film is directed and produced by Zeishan Quadri (of Gangs of Wasseypur fame), Meeruthiya Gangsters would also be on similar lines. But this one is very disappointing. Inspired by a series of extortion cases that took place in Meerut, the film skims over when it introduces each character. This means that there is very little interest and connect that one has with each. Added to it is the backdrop of the movie. Very few know and have knowledge about the gang wars or the groups that exist in the city, let alone the politics involved. So Meeruthiya Gangsters will have very few people who are able to sit through it let alone understand the nuances in a gang.

Over all, the film has nothing new or inspirational to offer that will hold one’s attention. One can give this one a miss.
