‘love India, but not the food’
Dancing had always been a passion for this Czech Republic choreographer. However, in a country where wanting to pursue a career in dancing is unheard of, Jaja Vankova instead of giving up her dream to become a dancer decided to move to los Angeles and pursue her passion.
Today, on her first visit to India, the dancer is excited to be a part of Bindass Naach and has been auditioning for the show which is all set to go on air in August 2015. “I love India and the people. But it is so hot here that it is difficult to cope with the heat. But I am so happy that I was asked to be a part of this non-fiction show where I will get an opportunity to then compete at an international event,” Vankova says who is known for her performance in the international dance show So You Think You Can Dance. Not only this, Vankova’s team won America’s Best Dance Crew 6.
“It was very exciting when the team won. It gives me a sense of purpose and to show that if one wants a dream can be realised. To be able to showcase one’s talent here in India as a dancer and a choreographer in different styles like animation, robot, krump, popping, locking, hip hop is great,” Vankova tells you adding that it is sad that one doesn’t get to see pure dancing on such shows and there is more stress on aerobics and gymnastic moves which is not what dancing is about.
“One has to accept that this is what dancing is all about today, accept it and incorporate the style in your own style and present something that is innovative so that there is that wow factor and the audience appreciates it. Creating your own unique signature style will ensure that you reach the top,’ Vankova says.
