MUSBA HASHMI speaks with RAHUL VAIDYA, who will be seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 11 on Colors, which is all set to go on air from July 17, 2021, about how he has fought his fears, life after Bigg Boss 14 and his wedding

How has your experience been doing Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 11?

It was the most crazy experience I have ever had. It is something which not many people have done in life and I am extremely lucky to have been a part of this show.

What are your biggest fears?

I am terrified of snakes and water. I have considerably overcame them, but you can’t be fully comfortable underwater because of the sinking feeling, but still I have overcame it to a certain extent.

How about heights? Are you comfortable with it?

It is of course scary. No one would be able to walk with confidence on the 17th floor of a building. Sab ke paer kaanpenge. But Khatron Ke Khiladi is the only show which makes you do the most adventurous fun games at utmost safety and also pay you to play these games. What else does one needs?

Did you have any strategy in mind before doing the show?

I never strategise anything in life. To go with the moment has always been my philosophy. But, I had a bad back issue, so that was the only thing I was careful about. And the only promise that Disha (Parmar) has taken from me was that: You are doing a show, you can take as much time as you want, but come back in one piece. And I have lived up to that promise of mine.

Whom did you bond well on the sets?

Many people ask this question, I don’t know why and I find it hard to answer. As artists, we all are doing our job together. Being a part of a show is work for us. We already have our separate set of people whom we resonate with, and when we are working together with a group on a show, it is professional. But, having said that, I did bond well with everybody and all of them are lovely people. There’s no particular person.

Who is your favourite contestant?

It has to be Vishal Aditya Singh. The way he pulled off and nailed a few stunts was commendable.

How has your life changed after Bigg Boss 14?

Bigg Boss is one show which is followed by a variety of people and this is the most beautiful thing about it. The other day, there was a painter in my building, he happened to see me and he was like: ‘Sir, aap mujhe bohot pasand aaye the Bigg Boss me’. Then, I met a bureaucrat who was also a fan of the show. The only reason I opted for Bigg Boss was  to get colloquial with the new generation. Going to the show has been of my best decisions and I feel fortunate.

Do you feel you should have done something differently in Bigg Boss?

Not at all. I never see my work and neither do I think what if I had done this or that. I believe in what’s mean to be will happen and what didn’t happen was because it wasn’t meant to be. There’s no point of thinking what should or shouldn’t have been done. It is as simple as that. I never regret something that didn’t happen. Every person tend to react in different ways, in different situations. It is natural.

You have done Bigg Boss and now Khatron Ke Khiladi, both of which are very different from each other. What else will we see you exploring in the near future?

Like you said, Bigg Boss is done, KKK is done, now a dance show is left. May be will do that as well. Honestly, with my back issues, until and unless those are sorted, I wouldn’t be doing a dance show anytime soon. Also, I don’t enjoy dancing, that is why I don’t do it. But I am getting a lot of offers to come as judge on some reality shows, so probably I will take up one of that.

Certain reality shows have landed in some controversies...

I know you are talking about Indian Idol, but that show is the reason behind what I am today. My only answer is that at the end of the day, all these shows are made for entertainment purposes and if certain things are changed for entertainment, I don’t think it is a big deal.

But if you are judge on a reality show and you are asked to praise contestants, would you do it?

I will never lie about my feelings and I have never done that. I will only do what I feel is correct.

You have recently announced your wedding on July 16, 2021. With so much going on, how are you managing things?

It’s extremely difficult. It’s like everything has come together at one point. I am getting married in less than nine days and my clothes are still not sorted. It’s crazy.

How’s Disha coping with your busy schedule?

She is extremely patient. She had let her groom-to-be  to go in a different country and do a show only about a month before the marriage. People plan for months for such occasions, but I have given only 20 days to it. But, like I mentioned, she has been extremely supportive and patient.
