The zonal IG of police M S Bhatia on Thursday reviewed extremists cases and some prominent crime cases that occurred in Garhwa, latehar and Palamau districts. He was also briefed on the anti-naxal operations in these three districts. This was Bhatia’s first visit to Daltonganj as IG of police.
Speaking to The Pioneer he said the face of extremism was then most cruel. Bhatia was the SP in these two districts from 2001 to 2003. The IG said the naxal organisation is starving of youths as not many youths are joining it for the reason that the actual face of extremism is too bleak and not what it tries to show off. More and more youths will stay from this kind of organisation if employment avenues are open to these youths.
On lodging of FIRs, Bhatia said the process is to be simplified as any aggrieved person has the right to lodge his FIR from the nearest police station instead of trudging miles to reach the same police station where he lives. When reminded how cops quarrel over the jurisdictions of the thanas this forthright IG said ‘Yes. We do agree. Yahan tak mera thana wahan sey uska thana’ . The cops are yet to come out of this mind set.
He said CCTNS ( crime criminal tracking network service) will yield good results once the cops become techie savvy and other infrastructural facility like power, voltage, connectivity all remain well and up to date.
