The cancer detection center opened at Hatia of Ranchi with the help of Apollo Hospitals under the joint initiative of the cricketer named as ‘YOUWECAN’. “After coming out of the disease it was my dream to start detection center for cancer. People should know what cancer is and how it can be fought with. People are generally frightened of it. The initiative should be reach door steps of all and spread the message about the center,” said the fighter on the occasion.

The center would screen the suspects free of cost that would help in early detection of cancer that finally lead to treatment and cure. Also present on the occasion was Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals Dr Rupali Basu. Counting on the contributions of Apollo in the field of health care in India, Basu said that the effort was to bridge gap between haves and have nots.

“We hope to carry forward the initiative taken by Apollo Hospitals and YOUWECAN a long way. There is a dichotomy that exists between India and Bharat that need to the dealt with. We are committed to screen at least 1 lakh people during this year. Our team of doctors would also visit Ranchi and other towns in Jharkhand to conduct special screening camps,” said Rupali Basu.

Under the initiative, over 10,000 people have been screened till now since the launch of the first phase early this year. Yuvraj expected that more funds coming to the initiative would pave way for affordable treatment for cancer patients from poor sections.
