As the poll temperature is soaring across the State, youths are also gearing up to take part in the electoral process with their needs and aspirations. They want honest young leaders for the 14-year-old Jharkhand, who can provide a stable government for inclusive growth of the State, ensuring education, and employment opportunities in a corrupt-free atmosphere. The Pioneer interacted with some of these college goers who shared their thoughts on the qualities a leader should possess in order to win the polls for State’s legislative Assembly:
Chaaya Singh (20), MA first year, Ranchi University:
There has not been much development in the State even after 14 years of establishment. A leader who can promote youth-oriented opportunities is required. Our leader should be capable to think on facilities benefitting senior citizens and children. The future of the State can be secured only if rights of these two age groups are protected.
Juhi Smita (26), MA final year, Ranchi University:
We need a young leader who can form a stable government in the State. A stable Government at the State is awaited. Unless, the basic requirements like job vacancies, education and cultural awareness are not fulfilled, we as a State can never develop. Gone are the days when aged leaders could dare to bring a positive transformation in the State.
Sunita Hembrom, (21), MA first year, Ranchi University:
A young leader, who can fulfill his campaigning promises, deserves to be in the Assembly. As we all know, our State is known for corruption and Maoist violence. A leader working honestly instead of earning black money is required for our State. The State has a lot of opportunities for industrial development.
Manisha Kumari (21) years, MA Ranchi University:
A leader who can make constant efforts for Clean India Drive is required for the State. We need a neat and clean society in every perspective. There are a lot of mosquitoes in Ranchi. I want a Jharkhand which has adequate facilities for women like preference in State level jobs.
Asri Anjum (21), MA Psychology, Ranchi University:
There is no provision for pursuing B.ed in Psychology. We have the best mental hospitals of India in the State but the psychology has least employment scopes here. A young leader like Rahul Gandhi is needed for the State.
Naista Parveen (21), MA, Ranchi University:
The prices of petrol and diesel have reduced but auto-fare has not reduced. We need a leader who can take prompt action for reducing the rates of bus and auto service as well as rickshaw. All such hopes can turn into reality if more numbers of young leaders are selected in the State governing body.
Sushmita Pandey (21), MA, Ranchi University:
Public no more prefers a leader who can deliver a good speech. We need a leader working for the development. I want a Jharkhand forming a systematic government with adequate employment opportunities and eradicating poverty.
Bikash Oraon (18), B.Com, SS Memorial College:
Educated leader having the zeal to work for the people of all communities is needed. Jharkhand lacks public-friendly leaders. Schools are in need of teachers. Health facilities are lacking. A leader who has guts to solve all these problems with a spirit of unity is important for the state.
Harilal Mahto (18), BSc Physics Honors part one, SS Memorial College:
Ranchi despite being a State capital is not safe for both boys and girls at night. We ought to have a leader who can give us safety and security apart from making Jharkhand a developed state like Gujarat.
Soni Kumari (24), MA, Ranchi University:
A one man army is required for the State. A leader possessing managerial skills is fit for representing the State Assembly. Most of the sectors are still isolated and need government’s attention. They should be highlighted. A boost up from a young leader can help in developing the State.
