Sensation gripped the city as the body of a 24-year-old youth, Amandeep Singh, missing for the last 12 days, was recovered in a decomposed state, in a bush close to posh Golmuri Golf Course under Golmuri police station area on Monday. The police claimed this to be a case of murder.
The police have also recovered a cell-phone. The reason behind this murder is unknown. A resident of Nanaknagar in Golmur, Amandeep had gone to attend marriage on June 4 to one of his friends at Adityapur, but did not return home.
The victim’s father Gurpreet Singh lodged a missing report with the Golmuri police station on June 5. The police had recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for a post-mortem. The murdered victim used to work in a construction company. When contacted, officer-in-charge, Golmuri police station, Nehaluddin Khan said that the probe is on and they are looking for every aspect.
He suspected that personal rivalry might have led to his killing. Amandeep might have been murdered the day he had gone to Adityapur for attending his friend’s marriage ceremony, Khan said after the missing person report was lodged.
The police had already started the investigation since his mysterious disappearance. “We have recovered the victim’s cell-phone. From the cell-phone we will take out the call details records (CDR) of those with whom Amandeep had spoken to,” said the inspector.
