A murder accused, Sanjay Yadav killed his wife and later committed suicide by hanging himself in police lockup at Jamua police station in Giridih district on Tuesday evening. The youth was rushed to the hospital but he died on the way, said SDPO R.K. Mehta
Giving details of the case, sub-divisional police officer RK Mehta said the accused Sanjay Yadav had allegedly killed his wife Kanchan Devi and threw her body into well at night on Monday in a village falling under the Jamua police station in Giridih district .
The dead woman, Kanchan Devi, had been married to Sanjay Yadav for the past few year .But ,according to Kanchan,s father ,their marriage had not been peaceful one .Kanchan used to complain to her father often .The deceased’s father told the police that even the in-laws of Kanchan used to torture Kanchan .
Sanjay Yadav, the accused was arrested on Monday evening and was lodged in the Jamua police station cell ,was found hanging from the ceiling of his locker room on Tuesday morning .The 25 year old Sanjay Yadav of Balkundi village under the same police station committed suicide using a thin jute rope of his blanket on Tuesday morning when other constable had gone out side the locker .
Officer-in charge, Jamua police station Kedarnath Prasad said “sanjay, s body was found hanging inside the locker and he used a jute rope of blanket to commit suicide. His feet were found touching the ground .Family members of Sanjay Yadav refused to accept that the sanjay had committed suicide and suspected foul play .the role of Jamua police has come under cloud following the agonizing death of 25 year old Sanjay .Giridih SDPO R.K. Mehta on Tuesday said that the police are investigating the death of a youth from all possible angles.
