A 22-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping a ten-year-old Birhor (tribal) girl on Friday by Telaiya Police. The accused Santosh Bhuiyan was arrested from Koderma Railway Station premises on Friday.
The victim Neelam birhor (name changed), a resident of Jharnakund Birhor Basti under Telaiya PS hails from aboriginal community of Birhor that enjoys the special status in Jharkhand. Sources said that the family is used to sell datoons (tooth brushes) at station road Jhumaritelaiya and the accused lured the girl to offering to buy all her Datuns.
He took her behind Veraich building near station on Thursday and raped her in day light in the afternoon. The harrowing tale came to light whenSevika Santoshi Devi of anganbadi of Jharanakund Anganwadi centre smelled that some thing had gone wrong with the girl. According to Santoshi Devi the girl told the story that the accused lured her to buy her bundal of datoons.
Santoshi Devi and others complained to police, which took the girl to the place of incident and on heridentification the accused was arrested from Koderma station premises.The accused is identified as a hobo and lived at station premises.The accused was sent to jail and the victim was sent for Medical examination to Sadar Hospital Koderma.
