A youth identified as Khustar Ansari of Jhaber village was caught and hanged upside down in Palamu.
It was all for loving a girl belonging also to the minority community.
SP Palamu Chandan kr Sinha said the boy was given this punishment for meeting a girl who too comes from the minority community.
SP further said none of the two sides, the boy or girl side has lodged any written complaint in this regard.
The youth Ansari is back home at Jhaber, added the SP.
Police have been asked to investigate the case and take appropriate lawful action, said the SP.
Police are to take statements of both the parties SP reiterated.
Lesliganj police are investigating the case.
The youth hanging from the branch of the tree was rescued by his own family members.
A video clip of it was made viral and police swung into action.
