Congress seems to be banking on participatory democracy for restricting its arch rival Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in 2014 lok Sabha elections and supposedly
delegated the responsibility of reaching out to masses to convey achievements of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in last ten years. The Youth Congress, party’s youth wing, has taken the responsibility of spreading awareness about achievements and collecting public opinion on the party’s manifesto for the next Parliamentary elections. The Youth Congress with the objective in mind has decided to embark on statewide rally to collect public opinion from people. The rally will start from Vidhansabha ground on November 12 and will culminate on November 17 at Ranchi.
“We will show a video on the achievements made during UPA-I & II to nail the opposition for spreading rumors about the Congress party and projecting it as anti-development party,” said Anup Singh, president Jharkhand Youth Congress. The youth wing of Congress will begin the journey alongwith more than 200 motorcycle borne workers. Notably, a suggestion box will be placed outside Collectorate in each district to collect suggestions from people on possible issues for the party to focus in the next Parliamentary elections.
Incidentally, the youth wing acknowledged that despite progress made by the government, the state still lacks policies for youth. The youth wing however pointed at the failure of the coalition partners to arrive at a consensus on the matter. Interestingly, State Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat accepted that lack of coordination among the coalition partners has shifted the focus away from such issue but soon a coordination committee will be formed that will try to evolve consensus on all important matters.
“We have finalized names for the coordination committee which will come into existence very soon. Once it comes into existence the issue related to coordination will vanish,” maintained Bhagat.
