A 24-year-old youth was found murdered at River View Colony under Telco police station early Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Sukhpreet Singh. Report said he was stoned to death and his body was found lying under a bush near posh River View Colony in Telco.
According to information available, the victim was a resident of Prakash Nagar, also in Telco locality. He used to work in a transport company and was missing from his house since last evening. OC, Telco police station, Shankar Thakur said that they have recovered the body from the residents of River View Colony and sent for post-mortem.
“We are investigating the incident. However, it appears that the assailants have killed Sukhpreet by using a boulder late in the night or in the wee hours today. We are yet to crack out the reason behind the murder and also the persons responsible for it,” said the officer-in-charge.
The murder victim would stay at a rented house in Prakash Nagar and had come out of his residence at about 6 pm on Saturday. Based on the victim’s mother Manpreet Kaur’s statement, the police have registered a case against unknown persons. According to her, like every day, her son had returned home from his duty in a Sakchi-based transport company and had gone out of the house.
She said her son did not return home in the night and in the morning by 8 pm, someone informed at their house that Sukhpreet’s body was lying in a bush near River View Colony.
