A young couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the well at Rakhatard village in Chupuatard panchayat under Bengabad Police Station in Giridih on Sunday. The hands of the boy and girl were found tied together when the bodies were seen floating in the water body on Monday morning.
Police pulled out the bodies and sent them to the town hospital in Giridih.
The deceased were identified as Dilip Handsa (22), a resident of Chupuatard panchayat, while Soro Muni Hembram (20), a resident of Rakhatard village.
The police could not find any suicide letter near the well.
The couple had eloped from their houses on July 5 and Soro Muni husband's husband had lodged a missing complaint the next day.
