The green of spring shoots, the colour of a new beginning and of freshness washed over the streets on Thursday as Chief Minister Hemant Soren won the confidence vote in the Assembly.
The vicinity of the House, the residence of Shibu Soren and the entire road in between was a sea of green as youths in large numbers congregated with the JMM’s flags and resounding cheers.Green was all pervasive even in the dress of jubilant supporters from all age groups. Nonetheless, the second-youngest Chief Minister of Jharkhand (after Madhu Koda) was celebrated most by the youth.
What one of them said was the general emotion, “I am very happy Hemant bhaiya has succeeded. He will transform the State with development. All of Jharkhand is happy for him.”Young boys and girls from the entire Jharkhand seemed to have converged on the State capital, on two-wheelers, in cars or whatever they could find. While the roads were jammed with hundreds of motorcycles, the open field outside Soren’s home in Morhabadi was bumper to bumper with cars.
All the vehicles carried JMM’s green flags flaunting the bow and arrow, the party’s election symbol. It was a ‘Holi’ with a green hue, with gulal blown in the wind.Inside and outside Soren’s home, it was as it had been on July 13 — when Hemant took oath of office. The only visible difference was the intensity of fireworks, Thursday being slightly dimmer.
“Hemant is a young person. He has vision for the young population. We will benefit from his tenure as the CM,” one of the supporters was overheard saying.
