Yoga remains a part of life for who's who in capital city

large number of people who performed yoga with the world on International Yoga Day on Sunday took time to wake up late on Monday forgetting the benefits of the traditional exercise. However, for some, yoga is a part of daily routine to relax their ‘mind’ and ‘soul’.

Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Neera Yadav and Water Resources Minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary have been performing the asanas for long to lead a stress-free life and keep in touch with the public affairs round the clock.

Additional Director General (Operations) of Police SN Pradhan prefers performing Sarvangasana and Surya Namaskar everyday to utilize each part of the body during the exercise.

AK Rastogi, the Special Secretary of Forest Department could not recall the names of the asanas but he said he has been doing yoga religiously over a decade at his home. The regularity in the asanas is followed by HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik too.

Sports Director Anil Kumar who along with Pradhan, representatives of various organizations and ministers accompanied Chief Minister Raghubar Das at the grand 33 minute yoga camp at Morhabadi ground marking the Global Yoga Day on Sunday ensured doing the asanas even at Patiala on Monday where he had gone for an official tour. “Besides, Kapalbhati and Anulom Vilom, I have been doing Markasana, the crocodile pose asana to avoid back pain as we have to travel a lot,” he said.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar follows the same exercise pattern but in a modernized way. He said, “It has been a long time, I go gym to maintain my physique. I do not do yoga.”

South Chotanagpur Divisional Commissioner KK Khandelwal likes Anulom Vilom asana and does it often. “I cannot do yoga regularly due to laziness,” he asserted.

However, few officials who were encouraged to do yoga in the three day special camps organized by Yogoda Satsang at Governor House and Art of living at IAS Club pledged to do yoga continuously from now onwards.

“We started doing yogasanas since the eve of International Yoga Day. Today was the fourth day when I decided to do yoga. One cannot know the benefits of exercise in a day so I hope to continue,” said Nalin Kumar, Officer on Special Duty (Judicial) to Governor Droupadi Murmu.

Road Constructions department Principal Secretary Rajbala Verma ,who also attended one of the special camps confirmed that she will maintain a strict daily routine of doing yoga fromTuesday.

“Today I had a busy schedule as CM Raghubar Das was supposed to inaugurate the seventh phase of Ring Road. In such circumstances, it was difficult to devote time for yoga. I will do it regularly from tomorrow,” she said.
