International Yoga Day on June 21 is a Sunday but has something special for the students of State Government schools. All of them will get a chance to learn ‘yogasanas’ for half an hour in their respective schools.
Following the directions of Chief Minister (CM) Raghubar Das to make the day memorable, a letter regarding the involvement of all middle and high schools was recently sent by Human Resource Development (HRD) department to all District Superintendents of Education (DSEs).
“We have asked DSEs to conduct yoga day programme for Class VI to XII students in middle and high schools of each district on the occasion of International Yoga Day from 7 to 7:30 am. There are around 10,000 such schools existing in the State. Physical Education or Sports Teachers in association with social organisations will train the students,” HRD Secretary Aradhana Patnaik said.
Asked why the primary section students were not counted, Patnaik said it would have been difficult for small children to wake up early on Sunday and attend the special camps.
However, the HRD department has given the liberty to DSEs for hosting similar school level camps at district level as well.
Among the marked schools in the state capital, 2000 students, including boys and girls will participate in the state-level yoga camp scheduled at Morhabadi Ground for a period of 33 minutes from 6:30 am on June 21. CM along with many dignitaries is expected to witness the camp.
In order to select the 2000 students, Ranchi DSE Jayant Kumar Mishra has started holding yoga workshops in collaboration with Art of living from June 9 onwards.
Meanwhile, in Hazaribagh where the schools will re-open on June 15, DSE Shivendu Kumar said he will organize weeklong workshops in every middle and high school and then encourage them to practice the same ‘asanas’ on Yoga Day.
In lohardaga, DSE Sabla Xess is willing to invite the Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri as chief guest in a middle school.
