Ahead of the mega event on June 21 to celebrate International Yoga Day with PM Narendra Modi, State administration is all set to organise a pre-event at Raj Bhawan on Thursday. Promotional activities to create awareness about the benefits of yoga among people will also be organised throughout the week leading up to the main event on June 21.

Government officials and teachers and students from colleges, among other groups have been requested to participate in Thursday’s event at Raj Bhawan.

Yoga-related cultural activities like street plays, folk music, and debated will also be organised in schools and colleges on June 13 and 14 to promote the event. The administration also plans to host a ‘Run For Yoga’ marathon on June 15.

Apart from launching two web links for online registration, the administration has also set up three online registration centres in the city to ease registrations for the main event. The three centres are at Church Complex, Nucleus Mall, and Project Building Secretariat. The centres will be open from June 12 to June 17, open from 11 AM till 7 PM.

Health department instructed all subdivision and panchayat headquarters on Wednesday to organise programs according to the protocol on Indian Government’s Ministry of Ayush website, along with a 3-day yoga training session before the event. These sessions will take place every morning between 6:30 to 7:30 on June 17, 18 and 19. A seminar on the importance of yoga will be organised on June 20 between 4 PM to 6 PM.

These efforts come after CM Raghubar Das talked on Tuesday about the collective effort required to make International Yoga Day event a grand one, emphasising on the pride the State feels to be selected by the PM for the auspicious day.
